Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate SJVN's 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project.
NHPC's 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Plant will also be inaugurated.
SJVN's project involves an investment of approximately ₹5,492 crore, making it India's largest single EPC solar project.
Two major power transmission systems for renewable energy evacuation will also be inaugurated and have their foundation stones laid.
Bikaner | Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to give a major gift to Rajasthan in the field of renewable energy on July 4th. In a grand ceremony organized at Pachpadra in Balotra, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for two massive solar power projects with a total capacity of 1300 MW and important power transmission systems.
The main highlight of this event is the inauguration of SJVN Limited's 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project. This project has been developed by SJVN, a Navratna enterprise under the Government of India.
A New Benchmark in Investment and Capacity
This project has been realized with a massive investment of approximately ₹5,492 crore. Spread over 5,000 acres of land, this project is India's largest single EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) solar project under the domestic requirement category, making it an excellent example of engineering.
The plant will generate over 2,454 million units of electricity in its first year of operation. This will ensure a power supply of 500 MW to Rajasthan, 200 MW to Uttarakhand, and 300 MW to Jammu and Kashmir. It is estimated that this project will reduce carbon emissions by about 2.79 billion kilograms over 25 years, a significant contribution to India's climate commitments.
'Make in India' and Employment Generation
Taking a strong step towards a self-reliant India, this project has used 24.22 lakh domestically manufactured solar modules and 175 crore indigenous solar cells. Over 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities were created during its construction phase.
In the same ceremony, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate NHPC Limited's 300 MW Karnisar (Bikaner) Solar Power Plant. NHPC is also a prestigious Navratna enterprise of the Government of India.
Another Step Towards Clean Energy
This plant will generate approximately 75 crore units of clean electricity annually. It utilizes about 7.75 lakh domestically manufactured solar PV cells and modules. The project will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 6.4 lakh tons every year.
These projects will not only enhance India's renewable energy capacity but also demonstrate the government's unwavering commitment to achieving the goals of sustainable development and a green future.
Transmission Systems for Power Evacuation
Along with solar power generation, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for two important transmission systems for the smooth evacuation of renewable energy in Rajasthan.
Inauguration and Foundation of New Lines
He will inaugurate the 'Rajasthan REZ Phase-3 Part-H' transmission line, built at a cost of ₹1,910 crore. Additionally, the foundation stone will be laid for the 530 circuit-kilometer long 'Rajasthan REZ Phase-4 Part-F' power transmission system, costing ₹2,735 crore. These systems will ensure an uninterrupted power supply in the state.
The inauguration of these projects will be a milestone in establishing Rajasthan as a solar energy hub and achieving the country's energy goals. This will not only enhance energy security but also create new opportunities for economic development and employment at the local level.
