Following a High Court order, a crackdown on modified private buses is underway in Jalore. During the investigation, several buses were found with non-compliant body and height, leading to challans.
This action is being carried out under the direction of the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and Additional District and Sessions Judge, Umesh Veer.
On Wednesday evening, an inspection campaign was conducted in front of the Police Kotwali. During this, private travel buses passing through were stopped and inspected.
Upon inspection, the body and height of three buses were found to be more than the prescribed standards. When their body, chassis, and height were compared with the RC, they were found to be different.
Many buses had excessive length, while some were violating height standards.
District Transport Department Inspector Raghavendra Singh took action against all three buses on the spot as per the rules and issued online challans.
Additionally, several other bus operators were given a two-day grace period to make the necessary improvements to their buses.
According to officials, the High Court's orders are being complied with to prevent accidents involving private buses. It is noteworthy that similar action against modified buses has been taken before.
