Southwest monsoon reached Rajasthan with a delay of 7 days.
The northern limit of the monsoon is passing through Tonk, Jaipur, and Alwar.
IMD has issued a heavy rain alert for Jaipur, Kota, and Udaipur divisions.
Monsoon activities will remain active in the state for the next week.
Jaipur | The long and arduous wait for the residents of Rajasthan is finally over. Bringing relief from the scorching heat and unbearable humidity, the Southwest Monsoon has arrived in the state. Arriving about 7 days later than its normal date, the onset of monsoon has initiated a spell of heavy rainfall in many parts of the state, bringing waves of joy to the people.
Monsoon's Arrival and Current Status
The Jaipur Meteorological Centre has officially confirmed that the monsoon entered the state from the eastern parts on July 2. This is a delay of about a week from the normal arrival date.
Looking at the data from the past few years, this pattern is interesting. Previously, in 2019, the monsoon had also entered the state on July 2.
According to the warning issued on Thursday, there is a strong possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in many parts of Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur, and Jaipur divisions.
The administration has advised people to remain cautious and stay away from low-lying and waterlogged areas to avoid any untoward incidents.
Special Focus on Eastern and Southeastern Rajasthan
The Met department's special focus is on eastern and southeastern Rajasthan, where the monsoon is expected to be most active.
Some places in the districts of Kota division, such as Baran and Jhalawar, may also record very heavy rainfall.
According to the department, monsoon activities will remain fully active in the state for the next week, which is also expected to increase the water levels in dams and reservoirs.
During this period, most areas of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Udaipur, and Ajmer divisions may continue to experience good spells of rain.
Western Rajasthan to Get Relief Soon
After eastern Rajasthan, the people of the desert region, i.e., western Rajasthan, are also going to get major relief from the heat soon.
According to the Met department, there is a high probability of the monsoon becoming active in the areas of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions in the next 3-4 days.
These regions will witness a significant increase in thunderstorm and rain activities with strong winds, which could lead to a drop in temperature by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius.
For the people who have been suffering from intense heat and heatwaves for a long time, this monsoon rain is no less than a blessing.
This monsoon rain will not only provide relief to the general public but is also like 'nectar' for the sowing of Kharif crops, creating a happy atmosphere among farmers.
In summary, the arrival of the monsoon has brought new energy and hope for Rajasthan. The next few days will see widespread rainfall in most parts of the state, which will provide relief to many drought-hit areas and also strengthen the agricultural economy.
