One WhatsApp Message and 6,000 Lives at Stake
The aggrieved employees allege that they were not given any official notice of their termination.
On the 30th, a message was sent to a hospital WhatsApp group.
Contract workers in Sirohi protest after 6000 were fired via WhatsApp, with 4 months of salary unpaid.
The aggrieved employees allege that they were not given any official notice of their termination.
On the 30th, a message was sent to a hospital WhatsApp group.
The message stated that their services were being terminated by the 'GS Company'.
This single message rendered approximately 6,000 contract workers in Rajasthan unemployed.
According to regulations, it is mandatory to give a 3-month notice before terminating any employee.
However, no rules were followed here.
The employees were directly informed via a WhatsApp directive, which came as a huge shock to them.
All these employees were hired through a tender process under 'Rajmesh'.
Their agreement clearly stated that they would not be removed until a permanent employee was hired.
As per contract rules, a contract employee cannot be replaced by another contract employee.
"We were not given any official information about our removal. On the 30th, a message came in a WhatsApp group that our services were being terminated."
The administration showed these employees the door by citing 'Rule 25'.
This rule is used in special circumstances.
But now, the government is again hiring new people on a 5-year contract agreement through the Staff Selection Board.
The former employees claim this is a betrayal and a direct violation of the rules.
The issue is not limited to just job termination. These employees have been exploited on multiple levels.
These dismissed workers have not been paid any salary for the last 4 months.
Forget running a family, even managing daily expenses has become difficult.
Moreover, last June, the salary of these workers was increased by an order from Rajmesh.
Their salary was increased from about ₹8,000 to ₹13,144.
But this increased salary remained only on paper. It never reached their bank accounts.
The protesting employees have also filed for a stay in court. Their demand is that the termination order be canceled and they be reinstated to their posts under the 2022 CSR Rules. If the government does not meet their demands, they will march to Jaipur and launch a major state-level agitation.
